Hello Hage Families,

This is Mr. Lee with your Sunday Message and updates for the week.  This week is the last full week of the school year and our students will engage in culminating activities.   As we have throughout the year, it is important that we continue to stay vigilant to remain safe.  Within the past week we've been experiencing an uptick in COVID cases on campus.  Our district is is committed to our health and safety protocols and we strongly encourage masking indoors.  Here's what is happening this week:

This is Mr. Lee with your Sunday Message and updates for the week.  I want to start by giving a big shout out to all that attended our last Restaurant Fundraiser of the school year at Best Pizza and Brew and last Friday's Family Art Night.  Your attendance at these events means a great deal to our school.  Here's what is happening this week:

  • 5/23-5/26: CAASPP/SBAC Testing 3-5th grades.  This week our 3-5th grade Panthers will be finishing the CAASPP/SBAC assessments in ELA and Math.  5th graders will additionally be tested in Science.  Our school-wide quiet testing time will be daily 8:05-9:50 AM.  3-5th grade students that are late to school after 8:05 will not be allowed to enter their classroom until after the quiet testing window.  

Please remind our Panthers to:

  1. Get a good night's rest.
  2. Eat a healthy breakfast.
  3. Be on time.  
  4. Do their best.

This is Mr. Lee with your Sunday Message and updates for the week.  One of the greatest assets of our community is the diversity we share.  With that in mind, we wish our Muslim community members a wonderful Eid as Ramadan comes to an end.  Additionally, we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month during May.  Here's what is happening this week:

Hello San Diego Unified Families and Colleagues,

We hope you and your family had an enjoyable Spring Break and look forward to seeing our students and staff back healthy tomorrow morning. 

All students and staff are encouraged to use their iHealth Rapid Antigen Test Kit to self-test for COVID-19 tomorrow morning before coming to campus. Testing and uploading results is not mandatory for returning to campus, however testing is an important tool to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. By testing before returning from Spring Break, staff and families can ensure that they are not returning to campus with a COVID infection.

Additional details on how to use the self-administered COVID-19 tests and upload results can be found on this instructional flier: English, Karen, Spanish, Somali, Swahili, Tagalog, Vietnamese 

As of April 4, 2022, wearing masks at schools and district offices is no longer required but is strongly recommended. As a school community, we fully support the decision of all students, families, and staff to continue wearing a mask or not. Harassment or bullying of anyone based on this personal choice will not be tolerated.

Below are some great resources for staff and families to help students understand and ease fears and anxiety they may be experiencing:

San Diego Unified is closely monitoring the COVID-19 status in our school communities. In the event that the State or County were to revert to requiring masks at schools, the District would follow those guidelines. Similarly, if the COVID-19 risk in our area increased to a level that would necessitate requiring masks, the District would follow the best medical advice and practices recommended.

With the change in mask requirements, we realize there are many questions about what other changes there may be in district COVID-19 policies. Students and staff should continue to self-monitor for symptoms each day and stay home if not feeling well. Additionally, enhanced ventilation, proper hand hygiene, contact tracing, and case management remain intact. For more details and updates on COVID-19 policies, please refer to the COVID-19 Information page.

The Annual Taste of Mira Mesa (Taste of Mira Mesa Flyer.pdf) is BACK!

  • Reminder: Students that are experiencing symptoms like headache, sore throat, stomach upset (nausea), or have runny nose and congestion (not associated to any pre-existing documented condition) should be kept them at home and plan for COVID testing.  Please do not send students to school with these symptoms.  Thank you for your support of these important health and safety guidelines.  
  • District Mask Policy Update 3/5/22

Students, staff and visitors to campus will no longer be required to wear masks indoors effective April 4. All other COVID-19 safety mitigations and protections including; air filtration, testing, handwashing, distancing when possible, self-screening for symptoms, case management, and contact tracing will remain in place.

Two weeks ago when district staff spoke with advisors from UC San Diego, the majority felt at that time that removing a mask mandate was premature, as the local COVID-19 case rate remained high. On Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) moved San Diego County into the lowest level of concern. For that reason, we believe it is appropriate to update our safety measures at this time.

We will once again provide all students and staff with at-home COVID-19 tests to use before returning to campus following Spring Break. This strategy worked extremely well before Winter Break, and we are grateful to have enough tests to be able to repeat the process. 

We will also continue to monitor federal, state and local guidelines and remain ready to return to indoor masking if our community were to enter a higher level of concern. Additional info & resources will be available on the district COVID-19 Information page.

  • Taste of Mira Mesa

This is an annual event that brings the local community together. It features food from local restaurants, a silent auction, and lots of fun!

This year's event will be on Saturday, April 23, 2022 (5:00pm to 9:00pm)

Cost: $35/person if purchased online by April 13th OR $40/person if purchased at the door
